MUSTANG ALL-STATE HONORS

Congratulations to Mustang Lance Clark for being named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) 3A First Team All-State team. Mustangs Joey Tatara and Kelby Deerman received Honorable Mention honors. Clark and Deerman were also named to the Birmingham News 3A All-State team.




MUSTANG ALL-METRO HONORS

Congratulations to the following Mustangs who made the Huntsville Times 1A-4A All-Metro Team: Lance Clark, Joey Tatara, Will Morrison, A.J. Luna, Kelby Deerman, and Stafford Booth. Additionally, two Mustangs received the top two awards with Kelby Deerman selected as the 1A-4A Player of the Year and A.J. Luna selected as the 1A-4A Pitcher of the Year. Congratulations to Kelby Deerman for being named to the All-Metro Super Team.

MORRISON ADVANCES


Congratulations to Mustang Will Morrison who was recently selected to move on to the third round of the Lion's Club East-West All-Star game. He will be competing with other top players from Northern Alabama this weekend at Austin HS in Decatur, Alabama. Way to go Will!

MUSTANGS SEASON ENDS Madison Academy's Varsity was beat by defending 3A State Champion Hokes Bluff HS last night to end the Mustangs' season. Hokes Bluff won the opener 14-8 and then came back and won the second game 6-4. It was two hard fought games by the Mustangs. We are proud of their accomplishments this year on and off the field and are looking forward to having them all return next year. Thanks to all the parents and Mustang supporters this year.

BASEBALL NEWS Game times for the varsity play-off contest vs. Hokes Bluff HS are: Friday 4:30PM & 7:00PM and Saturday 2:30PM (if necessary). This is a "best 2 out of 3" series. Come root for the Mustangs! Directions to Hokes Bluff HS have been posted under the Directions page. Hokes Bluff, AL. is located about 10 miles east of Gadsden, AL. on Hwy. 278. Budget about 2 hours and 15 minutes for driving time.

The Middle School contests that were postponed on April 15th with Monrovia have been rescheduled for Monday, May 1st. This will be a "A/B" double header beginning at 3:45PM. Both contests will be 5 inning affairs. GO MUSTANGS!

PLAYOFFS UPDATE Madison Academy's Varsity opened the 2006 AHSAA State Playoffs with a 14-2 win over the Sulligent Blue Devils. Joey Tatara pitched five innings and gave up four hits to get the win. Stafford Booth led the 15 hit offensive attack with three hits. Will Morrison, Lance Clark, Kyle Mayes, Chandler Wicks and Tatara added two hits each. Hokes Bluff defeated Sheffield 12-4. The Mustangs travel to Hokes Bluff HS on Friday night for the best two of three game series. Game times have been set for 4:30PM and 7:00PM. Saturday's game time, if necessary, will be announced tomorrow. GO MUSTANGS!

MUSTANGS WIN! Madison Academy's Middle School team won two games tonight at home against Discovery Middle School to bring their overall season record to 11-11. The "A" squad won 5-3 while the "B" squad won 4-3. Way to go Mustangs!

MUSTANGS WIN! Madison Academy's Varsity wrapped up the regular season yesterday with wins over Mars Hill HS and Hayden HS. In the first game, Corey Williams went the distance to get the win over Mars Hill 7-2 while Kelby Deerman and Joey Tatara led the offense with two hits each. Congratulations to Head Coach Mike Good, who earned his 100th career win with this victory. Way to go Coach!. In the second game, A.J. Luna pitched a 5 inning complete game to get the win over Hayden 14-0. Stafford Booth led the offense with four hits while Lance Clark and Kelby Deerman added three hits each. The Mustangs finish the regular season 22-13 and are now preparing for Sulligent HS in round one of the AHSAA State Playoffs on Tuesday at 4:00PM at home.

STATE PLAYOFFS ROUND ONE Madison Academy's Varsity will host Sulligent HS in the first round of the AHSAA State Playoffs on Tuesday, April 25th at the Jeff Stinnett Complex. Game time is set for 4:00PM.

MUSTANGS DEFEATED Madison Academy's Varsity lost to Decatur HS 9-8 last night. Stafford Booth led the offense with three hits including a two-run homerun. Lance Clark and Joey Tatara added two hits each with Clark hitting a three-run homerun and Tatara adding a two-run shot. Booth took the loss. The Mustangs play their final two regular season games this afternoon at home when we host Mars Hill HS at 3:30PM and Hayden HS at 6:00PM. The JV squad's game with Decatur was rained out. The JV finish their season 17-14. Congratulations to them for a great year that showed significant improvement and promise for the coming years.

MUSTANGS WIN! Madison Academy's Varsity completed 3A Area 15 play with a perfect 8-0 record with last night's 17-4 win over Elkmont HS. Joey Tatara went five innings to get the win. Andrew Purshock, Lance Clark, and Kyle Mayes each had a homerun and two hits to pace the Mustang offense. Tatara and Chandler Wicks added two hits each. The JV squad won 13-1 to improve to 17-14 on the year behind the pitching of Scott Jordan and Casey Whitt. The JV has now won 11 of their last 13 games.

MUSTANGS SPLIT ON THE ROAD Madison Academy's Varsity went on the road Saturday to Albertville and beat 3A #2 ranked Plainview HS 8-7 in extra innings when Kyle Mayes delivered the game winning hit driving in Lance Clark in the bottom of the ninth. Clark and Stafford Booth led the offense with three hits each while Kelby Deerman, Will Morrison, and Joey Tatara added two hits each. Deerman went the distance to pick up the win. In the second game the Mustangs lost 4-1 to the 5A #3 ranked Muscle Shoals Trojans. Deerman and Chandler Wicks each had one hit each in the loss. The Mustangs finish area play on Tuesday at Elkmont HS.

MUSTANGS WIN! Madison Academy's Varsity improved to 7-0 within the area with a 11-1 win over New Hope HS. A.J. Luna got the win and Kelby Deerman led the Mustang offense with three hits including a three-run shot to end the game in the sixth inning. Stafford Boooth, Zach Lewter, and Will Morrison added two hits each.

MUSTANGS WIN! Madison Academy's Freshman team improved to 4-0 with two wins over Hazel Green HS. Andrew Parrish got the win in the first game with Nick Tanielu and Drew Mobley leading the offense with two hits each. In the second game, Spencer Palmer and Casey Whitt combined for a three hit shutout with Palmer getting the win. Jared Brinson led the offense with three hits (1B,2B,3B). Nick Tanielu, James Long, and Michael Moorefield added two hits each in the win.

SCHEDULE CHANGES MA Baseball Families & Friends,

This Saturday, April 15th has been revised.

Middle School contest @ Monrovia will be rescheduled to a later date. Check our website later this week for an updated schedule.

The home Varsity contest vs. Boaz has been cancelled. The Varsity will travel to Albertville, AL. to play Plainview H.S. @ 2:00PM followed by a contest with Muscle Shoals H.S. at 4:30PM. Albertville H.S. is sponsoring a chicken dinner during these contests. Plate lunches are available for $5.00

In addition, Alumni Day activities, barbecue and Alumni Game have been rescheduled from April 15th to Saturday, April 22nd. Please refer to today's Madison Academy Enews announcement.

MUSTANGS WIN! Madison Academy's Varsity improved to 6-0 in the area and clinched the area championship by beating West Morgan on the road 10-3. Joey Tatara was the winning pitcher. Lance Clark led the offense with a homerun. The JV squad increased their winning streak to four games by beating West Morgan 7-0 behind the solid pitching of Scott Jordan and Spencer Palmer. James Long led the offense with two hits. Madison Academy's Freshman team swept a doubleheader from Huntsville on the road Monday evening. Michael Moxley and Blake Norton were the winning pitchers.

BASEBALL NEWS We have several notes to pass along, so please read carefully to understand what applies to you and your son.

This Friday's (April 7th) Middle School contest at home vs. East Limestone will take place as originally planned. Game times remain 5:00PM and 7:00PM.

This Saturday's (April 8th) JV and Middle School game schedule has been modified at the request of Mars Hill. The JV will play the first two contests of the day beginning at 10:00AM, followed by a single Middle School contest at approximately 2:00PM.

The varsity schedule for Saturday, April 8th in Albertville, AL. remains as originally planned. Published game times are 12:30PM and 3:00PM. However, be prepared for revised game times due to inclement weather anticipated on Friday. It may take some time to prep the fields for play on Saturday morning.

In addition, all other schedule commitments remain intact as originally planned. Some may be aware that we attempted to schedule a varsity contest this Friday with Phil Campbell HS. However, this game will not take place at this time. "In lieu of" we will exhaust every opportunity to resume the suspended game with Lee HS before scheduling another contest with another opponent.

MUSTANGS WIN! Madison Academy's Varsity improves to 4-0 with an impressive offensive showing against Randolph. Several Mustangs had multiple hits with home runs from Lance Clark, Andrew Purshock, Kelby Deerman, and Corey Williams. Kyle Mayes got the win tossing a complete game no-hitter. The Middle Schol Mustangs also won tonight with a 14-11 win over league opponent Madison County.

MUSTANGS WIN! Madison Academy's Varsity beat East Limestone HS tonight 13-0 avenging a loss earlier this season. The Mustangs 16 hit offensive attack was led by Joey Tatara with three hits. Andrew Purshock, Chandler Wicks, Stafford Booth, and Lance Clark added two hits each. Tatara went five innngs giving up only one hit while stiking out seven. The Mustang's JV squad beat East Limestone 6-1 with Andrew Parrish picking six innings and striking out six. James Long led the offense with a three run pinch hit triple to put the game out of reach. Jared Brinson and Blake Norton added two hits each. Area play resumes tomorrow at home against Elkmont with a 5:00PM game time.

MUSTANGS WIN! Madison Academy's Varsity beat Lee HS last night 12-2. The Mustangs were led offensively by Chandler Wicks and Andrew Purshock with two hits each. Stafford Booth added a two run homerun and Kelby Deerman went five innings allowing three hits to pick up the win. The Junior Varsity squad fell to Lee 3-2.

Just wanted to thank those who volunteered to assist me with spring break... The Palmers and Perry Young for cooking and shopping for all those hamburgers and hotdogs for our family BBQ. Special thanks for offering your room to accommodate us and the boys... Karen Kerr for taking on the RSVP's ... The Jordan's for food shopping for the boys ... All the parents who contributed to the boys non-perishables and gave of their time ... I couldn't of fathom doing it all again this year all by myself!! GULF SHORES CLASSIC UPDATE Madison Academy's Varsity squad opened the 2006 spring break week with a 7-1 loss to third-ranked Hueytown in a game played at Robertsdale HS. Stafford Booth led the offense with two hits while Kyle Mayes added a solo homerun. Next game for the Mustangs is on Tuesday at 12:30 PM against Pleham HS at Gulf Shores Complex. The Junior Varsity team gets their first games Tuesday night at the Orange Beach Sportsplex where they play Gulf Shores HS in a doubleheader that begins at 5:00 PM.

GULF SHORES SPRING BREAK BASEBALL CLASSIC TOURNAMENT Madison Academy's Varsity and Junior Varsity teams depart Sunday, March 19th for a week of baseball tourneys and some fun. GOOD LUCK MADISON ACADEMY!!

Players are to arrive at the LAMA house parking lot at 8:45 am to load vans/trailers. Bus will depart promptly at 9:00 am. Spring Break assignments can be found by clicking here. This information is also posted in the Home Run Club section of the site.

BASEBALL NEWS.

1) We would like to thank those of you who participated and/or attended our 2006 Pancake Breakfast. It was a great event, well attended, and well supported. Your contributions are greatly appreciated by the Home Run Club and Coaching Staff. I could tell that all were enjoying the great fellowship.

2) We would also like to thank the volunteers who stuck around and allowed us to further our progress toward expanding our bullpen on the 1st base dugout side. We have a little bit more work to go and hope to complete it this coming weekend. Great job!

3) Please remember that your Home Run Club Membership and Fundraising Participation form is due January 16th. Turn-in should be made to Leigh Young. Her contact information is on the form.

4) Please remember that the deadline for getting your baseball apparel, sweats, jackets, etc. orders and money is due Jan. 16th. Turn-in should be made to Kara Booth, anyone who needs to contact me for turn-ins please do so by email at boothk@labcorp.com, bandkbooth@aol.com or by cell phone 679-8574.

5) If you have not done so, please complete/sign the required information for your son to participate in the baseball program. These documents can be found as Part III or as appendices in the Student/Athlete Baseball Handbook and include:

a) Acknowledgement that you have read and understand the contents of the Student/Athlete Baseball Handbook
b) Player Contract
c) MA Athletic Participation Form w/Medical Release, Consent, and Contact Information
d) Parental Code of Conduct & Sportsmanship

Please turn these items into Coach Good, and/or have Ms. Allen put them in Coach Good's mailbox in the High School Office.

6) Work Day, this Saturday, January 14th, 8:30AM to 1:00PM. The weather forecast calls for favorable conditions, sunny skies, and fairly moderate to mild temperatures. It should be a great day! We have several tasks we hope to accomplish and/or projects we need to further. Mike Williams (our Facility/Maintenance Coordinator) will be sending out a follow-up email to outline the specific tasks on Thursday or Friday, as well as ask our volunteers to bring some tools or maintenance items from home. I.e., rakes, wheelbarrows, etc. The short list of tasks to perform include:

a) Pack & encase the recently created bullpen mound. (Complete bullpen expansion)
b) Sod cut/trim the outfield edge of the warning track.
c) Till and remove overgrowth from warning track, infield edge, etc.
d) Level the home plate area
e) Pack additional mound clay on the competition/field mound.
f) Prep auxiliary field for baseball use
g) Complete press-box, bathroom, concession stand ceiling restoration.

BASEBALL NEWS. Pancake Breakfast - This is a remainder that the MA Baseball Club Pancake Breakfast is scheduled for this Saturday, January 7th. We will be serving from 700am until 1030am. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the door. The final Pancake Breakfast ticket turn-in is this Thursday, January 5th. It would be helpful to provide any commitments of corporate tables, as well, as well as the number of tickets that you have sold or are planning to Mark Lambert or myself by Thursday. We need to plan for the amount of supplies that will be needed for the breakfast.

Volunteers are needed to help with the Pancake Breakfast. Please contact Mark as soon as possible and let him know the times you will be available to help. Thanks!

SEEKING DIAMOND DOLLS FOR 2006 SEASON. Madison Academy Baseball program is seeking spirited Diamond Dolls for 2006 Season. All girls in the 9th-12th grades are encouraged to apply. Being a Diamond doll is a great way to earn Community Service hours as well as supporting Madison Academy Baseball and the community. Diamond Dolls will receive a letter of appreciation with community service hours earned for their high school record.

Duties include: assisting with concession stand duties, gate collection, serving refreshments to umpires, raising and lowering the American Flag, distributing programs, announcing Game Day sponsors and advertisers on Game Day, assisting the parents with their little children while parents are watching the game, promoting Team Spirit to the fans, school and community during the season.

Girls who would like to apply should submit on an 8.5 x 11 white sheet of paper name, address, telephone number, email address, current class year and explain Why I want to be a Diamond Doll. Submission to Ms. Allen (front office) by Friday, December 9, 2005 or can be emailed to Jan.Parker@ngc.com, Diamond Doll Sponsor. Selections will be made January 5, 2006.

CHILI DINNER. MA Home Run Club will be hosting it's Chili Dinner this coming Thursday, December 1st at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria for all our Baseball families. Please come out and join us - dinner is on us!!! It will be a great opportunity to meet/chat a little with other baseball parents, players and coaches. If you have participated in the Cookie Dough fundraiser, Anita Crowson will be collecting your Cookie Dough order forms on the 1st, so you will receive your cookie dough just in time for the holidays!! Don't forget to annotate how many you sold on your fundraising work sheet form prior to turning your order form in. Any questions you may have regarding the cookie dough sales, please do not hesitate to email Anita (anita.crowson@meads-llc.com).

MEETING RESCHEDULED. Due to all activities cancelled on November 15th, the Madison Academy Baseball parent’s meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, November 21st @ 6:00 pm in the cafeteria. School will be closed, due to Thanksgiving break; however, we will be there to welcome everyone and present to you our Program for 2005–2006!! An introduction of 05-06 baseball season coaching staff, pertinent information on Madison Academy's baseball program, budgets and operating objectives for the 2006 season will be presented. We also look forward to welcoming our new families and reuniting our baseball family at our meeting on the 15th. All Middle School, Junior Varsity and Varsity team parent(s) are required to attend. May I emphasize that this meeting is very important for everyone to attend. We will be presenting our whole program for the 06 season. This is your time for Q&A, meet your coaching staff, board members, an opportunity to get involved in HRC activities and meet/reunite with MA's baseball family. We are very excited about our planned events and our program this year!

Tryouts - Fall Evaluations. All boys interested in trying out for Madison Academy baseball should report to the baseball field on Tuesday, November 1st at 3:45PM. This tryout is open to all prospective players in grades 7th - 12th who have not participated in the Madison Academy Baseball Program previously. The following is the two day scedhule:

Tuesday, November 1st, 3:45PM - 5:15PM

Skills to be evaluated: mile run, home to 1st base-path time, infield & outfield throw, & hitting.

Wednesday, November 2nd, 3:45PM - 5:15PM

Skills to be evaluated: 60 yard dash, base running, bunting, & pitching, etc.

Selection: Players meeting our selection criteria will be invited to participate with the baseball team when Spring practice begins.
